The Castle of Prauthoy is made up of several buildings of different periods;
Two buildings of 17th century frame the main facade, built in the 18th century (1721). The first floor was elevated at the end of the 19th century. The park and dependencies, as well as the artificial cave were built in the middle of the 19th century. Underground, accessible from the cave, a cellar of 16th century.
The Castle area used to be very wide; in the 17th century, it extended over several villages, and had vocation to supply the population, until Paris.
By the way, the cellars have contained up to 117 barrels of wine during the French Revolution. Today the field is reduced to the only Park, and retains an area slightly more than 5 hectares. |
